Since I was little, I’ve always enjoyed problem solving and spending time toiling away to find a solution. Combined with my fascination of computers, I have grown to love coding and developing solutions to problems using technology. I continue to see this passion in the growth and versatility of technology in the modern world, as new ideas and inventions that benefit our everyday lives are continuously created. I have seen technology grow from a young age and it has always been in my life. I hope I can continue to help and contribute to its progress as I pursue my education and career in the future.

Data Structures

Experience with intermediate programming in Java and an introduction to computer science. Knowledge in topics including program structure and organization, object-oriented programming (classes, objects, types, sub-typing), graphical user interfaces, algorithm analysis (asymptotic complexity, big O notation), recursion, data structures (lists, trees, stacks, queues, heaps, search trees, hash tables, graphs), graph algorithms.

Algorithms

Experience in the design and analysis of algorithms, focusing on major algorithm design techniques (greedy algorithms, divide and conquer, dynamic programming, and network flow), computability theory focusing on undecidability, computational complexity focusing on NP-completeness, and algorithmic techniques for intractable problems, including identification of structured special cases, approximation algorithms, and local search heuristics.

Security

Experience with Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks and other hardening techniques to secure virtual operating systems (Windows – Server 2016, Vista/7/8/10 and Linux – Ubuntu 14/16, Debian 8) against common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) from open services. Also simulated network topologies containing nodes (routers, switches, firewalls) based on OSI model with Cisco PacketTracer/NetAcad.

Computer Science Intern

As a computer science intern at the NSA, I maintained, updated, architected, and refactored a code base of Perl and Python scripts used in the development of a software assurance automation system to be run against secure vendor software. I also ensured vendor software meets security requirements outlined in the Information Assurance Security Requirements Directive (IASRD) through the development of Python test cases, identifying over 20 vulnerabilities with lexical analysis. Using the IASRD, I also reviewed security requirement documents for software and hardware for existing technology implemented by the DOD.

Student Technology Specialist

As a Student Technology Specialist, I focus on supporting faculty, TAs, and CTI staff through preparing media for courses, working on course-related audio/video projects, website/blog building providing support for Canvas, assisting with the development of Cornell’s Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) through the EdX platform, and meeting faculty who walk-in to drop off materials or get support. I also work on implementing various API’s to Canvas from Gradescope, Panopto, InstantAccess, PollEverywhere, etc. to support teaching.

Coach and Founder of CyberPatriot Club

As the coach and founder of the CyberPatriot club at a nearby high school, I brought my own experience with the cybersecurity competition to others, hoping to share my knowledge regarding CIS benchmarks and other hardening techniques with them. I helped them learn how to secure virtual operating systems against CVEs and learn basic network topologies using Cisco PacketTracer and NetAcad.

Research Lab Assistant and RuFaS Model Developer

The Ruminant Farm Systems (RuFaS) Model is a next-generation, whole-farm, dairy systems model. As a model developer and research lab assistant, I work on programming the model using Python, working with a nation-wide team of programmers, scientists, industry leaders, and academic faculty to continue identifying and proposing new opportunities to expand and develop the model. I also maintain pseudocode documentation, reviewing and debugging the code while also using Git to maintain clean working branches and version control. (rufas.org)

Classroom Technology Assistant

As a CTA, I work with Cornell Information Technologies office to provide audio-visual support for classes and other special requests across the University, managing in-room AV equipment and Zoom counterparts for courses during online and hybrid courses due to COVID. I also connect Cornell professors with CIT and act as an intermediary to provide on-site support for classroom technologies. I am also able to answer technical questions and troubleshoot participant issues, escalating challenging issues to CIT when necessary.

Computer Science Instructor

As a computer science instructor, I taught individual students programming concepts and problem solving skills through 1 on 1 private lessons. I instructed students in Python on a weekly basis with topics ranging from graphics to algorithms, with students ranging from elementary up to high school students, starting from Scratch and learning up to Java for AP Computer Science A and training for USACO. I also provided curriculum feedback to continually improve Juni Learning’s various computer science classes and create supplementary material and design changes to the existing curriculum.

Project GO Teaching Assistant

Project GO is a nationwide program for military ROTC students to gain critical language education and cross-cultural experience. As a teaching assistant, I helped students develop linguistic and cross-cultural communication skills, facilitating an intermediate level Chinese college course in preparation for the United States Department of Defense’s Defense Language Proficiency Tests (DLPT). I also coordinated lesson plans and cultural activities for students, communicating closely with SDSU faculty and language directors daily to prepare lessons.

Programming Lead of FIRST Robotics Team 4139

As the programming manager and lead, I managed interdependencies between hardware and software in the development of the sensor, vision, and motor functions of the robot through close collaboration with the Build Lead. I developed code in C++ for both autonomous and teleoperated motor functions of the robot during competition. In terms of logistics, I managed meetings and day-to-day operations of the programming team and directed, compiled, and oversaw all code used during the competition.
